Waiting for the anniversary collection to be released, Becuzzi took his time preparing the next 'real' new album L'ÊTRE ET LE NÉANT. As a consequence of this long writing period, some of the tracks like "Euthanasia" or "Thanatofobia" are more in the vein of the SEIN UND ZEIT album, whereas the later tracks already incorporated influences of minimal techno and breakbeat, up to the latest works which were a sort of drum'n'bass and trip-hop hybrid with a touch of early LIMBO sound. Finished in 1998, L'ÊTRE ET LE NÉANT with its reference to Sartre's homonymous essay spans back to SEIN UND ZEIT, replying to Heidegger's theses.
The album was recorded at Michelangelo's Studio in Piombino by Becuzzi himself with resident engineer Paolo Cillerai, who also played electric guitar on "Madre Chiesa Clinica" (a song written by Becuzzi during his permanence in Pankow, originally titled "Adrenalina"), while "La Mort Pornographique" is a remake of L.I.N.'s track "Charming Voyeur".
